We left Geneva on 27th August at 6:13 in the morning and used the TGV Lyria train to Paris for EUR 70 for 2 pax, little Apollo had a free ride then. It was a three-hour journey and we safely arrived Paris Gare de Lyon at 9:38 AM. Immediately we looked for Tourist Information desk to seek help on how to get to our hotel.
Paris Gare de Lyon is a huge train terminal, international trips are found on the upper floor, and on the lower floor are the intercity trips. We were asked to go the ground level and take a train to Volontaire, to which Yllen Eiffel Hotel (our hotel) is located. Trains in Paris are much more complicated than here in Dubai, it has different metro links with different colours, and it’s like a maze! Having 2 heavy luggages with us plus Apollo on baby stroller is such a big challenge for us. We asked the tourist information guide if we can take a cab but he advised us that aside from being costly, the drivers are so tricky it might lead us elsewhere. He himself is not into using cabs or taxis. I’ve also learnt that taxi charges you per person and per luggage and not according to your trip. So we ended up going by metro and managed to get to Volontaire station, which has 2 connecting lines. After getting out of the metro, we were relieved upon seeing Yllen Eiffel Hotel right in front of us, which means it’s just right next to the metro stop.
We checked in, took a rest for a while and off we go to explore Paris.
