Iftar is an Arabic term for the meal that is being served after the whole day of fasting for our Muslim brothers throughout the whole month of Ramadan. It has been part of our company’s culture to go on an iftar with the whole team, (the past previous years was including our family) to show solidarity with our Muslim colleagues, and a chance to know each other at a personal level.
Our company chose The Address – Dubai Marina for our iftar venue. This was held at The Constellation Ballroom on the Fourth Floor of the Hotel. The venue was cozy, decorated with lamps which is considered to be the symbol for Ramadan. You will also find of course the Ramadan Tent where dates and tea will be served before or after the iftar.
The Address offers a wide variety of international food during iftar. Apart from Arabic food (shawarma, falafel, manakish, kofta, kebab, saloona, etc.), they also serve Indian, Chinese and Italian food. The grilled beef and the white pasta are so divine! And I so love the mango avocado salad! Actually, I plan to copy and do this at home coz the combination tastes so good! And the highlight of course is the dessert. I made some experiment on the sticky toffee pudding. On top of it, I put a scoop of dondurma or the Turkish ice cream. What can I say? It tasted like heaven! I also enjoyed the red fruit tiramisu on a mini glass as well as the dulcey and hazelnut verrine.
